Historical Background & Heritage
Mentioned in Mahabharata and ancient Puranic literature as Saptarshi Kunds (Seven Rishi Springs), the hot springs emerge at the foot of Vaibhargiri Hill. The water flows out of 22 stone spouts from natural subterranean thermal channels heated by volcanic activity deep inside the earth.
Spiritual Significance & Importance
Brahmakund is the hottest spring (45°C) and is revered by Hindus, Jains, and Buddhists. The water contains rich mineral salts, sulphur, and trace radium, rendering it medicinal properties that help cure skin diseases, rheumatism, and fatigue.
